This message is to notify you that as we move into the month of May, we are nearing that time when students will participate in the annual state tests.
This year the state test is measuring student progress by participating in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Students in both 7th and 8th grade will take an English Language Arts and Math test. Students in 8th grade only will also take a paper-pencil science test. There are no time limits when taking these tests. Testing begins Monday, May 2nd and will end the first week of June.
Most of the testing will take place in your child's Academic Block (Language Arts and History) class. There may be some students who need additional time than what the Academic Block class offers and so we will be flexible in finding times for students to finish.
Attached you will find a calendar for the month of May that details what tests are taken what day and when your child's grade level will be testing. Bell schedules will remain the same during the testing calendar. Our teachers and students have been working very hard over the course of the year and we are proud of all of them. We appreciate your support in making sure your child is at school, on time, and planning appointments accordingly. Your child can help themselves by getting a good night's sleep and having a nutritious breakfast each morning.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child's Learning Director.
